Adverse-specialist
You may find it difficult to get a mortgage if you’ve had credit problems in the past. It will be especially difficult to get a mortgage from any high street banks as it’s a very conservative area. However, there are some lenders which have a more flexible approach to your situation.
These lenders are often separated into two different categories:
- Mainstream lenders who are willing to overlook historical issues.
- Specialist ‘Adverse Credit’ lenders.
To have access to a mortgage from Specialist Adverse Credit lenders will depend on when, how and if your last credit issue was resolved. The lenders will need to be assured that you will be able to afford your repayments; this may lead to them increasing the interest to above typical rates.
