I’m Mags James – the mortgage broker who cares. Before founding Step by Step Mortgages, I worked for a corporate estate agent, becoming an expert in the sector with years of knowledge and experience under my belt. I loved my role, but what became increasingly clear to me was just how stressful the process was for clients. This became even more apparent when I bought my own first home, feeling like I’d not received the help and support I needed.
I knew that I had the opportunity to do things differently – my way! I would be a mortgage broker who understood people and supported them every step of the way.
And that was how Step by Step Mortgages was born. I am now the broker I envisioned all those years ago. I am so proud of my journey and the clients I have helped along the way.
No two days are ever the same for me at Step by Step Mortgages, as I do whatever it takes to get my clients to their dream home destination!
What I do for clients:
- Provide advice on a range of mortgages, including buy-to-let, residential, and specialist mortgages
- Advise on life and critical illness, sickness, buildings and content policies
- Liaise with other professionals who advise on equity release, bridging and commercial loans
Being an independent broker means that I’m not limited to a panel of lenders which means I can search for the best products for clients’ individual circumstances. When I’m looking for the best deal for a client, I work tirelessly to negotiate on their behalf.
Whether I’m at work or home I’m full of energy and embrace a positive mindset. I’m a dedicated football mum and side-line coach – much to my sons’ embarrassment! My family is my life, and when I’m not working for clients, it’s all about them! Weekends mean football, family and the newest addition to my gang, my Maltese dog Barney.
